What is the yeast free Candida Diet?

Candida is one of the many forms of yeast that live in the digestive system of the human body.

The Candida Diet (also called the Yeast Diet) is a cleansing diet to rid the body of excess yeast and alleviate the painful symptoms associated with Candida yeast overgrowth.

Candida, like all yeast, gets it energy from sugars, starches, carbohydrates and alcohol which break down into sugar and provide nutrients to the yeast in the system. The body naturally uses yeast to kill harmful bacteria and keep the body in balance. In contrast, the friendly bacteria in the body holds the yeast in check so the body maintains a healthy balance between the good and bad bacteria.

About Candida Yeast

When the immune system is compromised and the good bacteria are not able to hold the yeast in check, it begins to colonize or overpopulate within the system. When the yeast begins to multiply it introduces toxins which lead to the further weakening of the immune system and ultimately other health problems such as fatigue, headaches, body pains, digestive problems, recurring yeast infections, unexplained illness, painful gas and bloating, brain fog and other symptoms.

Common medicine will generally attempt to treat the side effects of this process such as the joint ache or yeast infection with medicine without recognizing or treating the actual source of the system ailment which is an overgrowth of yeast. In these cases a yeast free Candida Diet is recommended to help rebalance the body systems by supporting the body’s good bacteria and eliminating the yeast overgrowth.

Causes of Yeast Overgrowth
Antibiotics are one culprit in the overgrowth of yeast within the body. Antibiotics are used to get rid of the bad bacteria in the body however the side effect can be to kill off much of the friendly bacteria as well. When this happens there is nothing to hold the Candida in check and the yeast begins to colonize or multiply unhindered within the body.

Several things can add to the development of this process including an unhealthy diet rich in sugars, yeast containing breads, and processed foods. An unhealthy diet can lead to a compromised immune system. Environmental factors such as chemical exposure or mold exposure can also be factors in a limited or weakened immune system. Other factors that can contribute to yeast overgrowth are birth control pills, chemotherapy, poor nutrition, and use of antibiotics.

How Do I Rid Myself of Excess Yeast?
A yeast free Candida Diet cleanse is a good way to naturally flush out excess yeast and help rebuild the good bacteria in the body. In general the Candida Diet is a yeast free, sugar free, and dairy free cleanse focused on natural foods including fresh vegetables and most meats (organic if possible). For more detail on the common foods to eat and to avoid check out the Candida Food List.

Shopping for this cleanse can be a challenge since most foods contain added sweeteners or preservatives that need to be avoided.  Stick with fresh vegetables and meats along with natural foods like eggs and nuts (except peanuts and pistachios which should be avoided).  Prepackaged foods should be avoided as should anything containing sweeteners of any kind.

Finding the right recipes and making a meal plan can make all the difference when making a diet or lifestyle change.  If you are ready to get started, the The Candida Diet Cookbook is an easy to use resource including over 200 yeast free recipes and snacks for use on the Candida Diet cleanse.

The first step in getting the balance of the body back under control is to stop feeding the yeast by cutting out all sugars (including fruit), dairy, yeast, processed and fermented foods.

This diet is generally used as an alternative form of therapy for health problems thought to be yeast related such as headaches, fatigue, memory loss, digestive disorders, depression, recurring yeast infections, gas and bloating, etc.

It is always recommended to consult a licensed medical practitioner regarding your specific situation before undergoing any new diet or supplement program.
